Vintage Portable Turntable

I remember growing up, and having a record player.  It was probably my first true love.  Over the years, music has changed drastically, but there's still the hidden love for vinyl records.

I actually don't own any vinyl, myself, but I have a few friends who still own some.  When I ordered this, I promptly called a few friends and asked to borrow some music.  My friend, Michael, gave me a whole stack and marked a few of them as "MANDO"... meaning I had to listen them before I could listen to anything else.

I had asked my kid if he's ever listened to an old fashioned record and he said "NO"; so I knew I had to get it out immediately and start listening to it.  -Of course, I was trying to go off of memory and didn't bother to read directions.  There are directions included, but they are sub par at best.

The turntable is easy to set up.  There's a turn knob to turn the device on and that also controls the volume.  You can raise or lower the arm with a switched.  There are three speeds.. you'll know if you're listening to it on the wrong speed. There's the disc which you can put on it so that your smaller records fit.  -Before actually placing the needle on the record, make sure you remove the plastic cover off of the needle, so you don't scratch your record.  The device does have a battery and can be wireless after it is charge, or you can leave it plugged in.  The speakers are built right in to the device.

The only real issue I have with this device is that the angle of the lid, when it is open and you're playing a record, where the top and bottom are hinged together, the lid part almost rubs against the bottom of the record as it plays.  There is a serious design flaw here.  I'd be a bit upset scratching someone else's records, let alone my own if I had some.

Nonetheless, My son and I spent the entire weekend listening to records.  We've rearranged the entire house and brought the record player with us from room to room.  In the rooms where outlets were sparse, we used the wireless option.   For the price, you really cannot beat this.

If you want a sample of what the sound quality is like, you can watch a brief clip here on Youtube: Turntable video.
